RIGHT TO REPAIR HEARING IN WASHINGTON STATE - Lawmakers Are Starting To Get It!

This is a big year for right to repair legislation in statehouses all across our great country. State legislators are hearing about the need for more repair options from repair people all over our country and rejecting lame excuses from corporate lobbyists who represent manufacturers who want to keep an iron fist of control on our electronic devices.

But why listen to me ramble on when you can read actual quotes from actual state legislators who seem to be leaning in our direction. Enjoy (unless of course you like draconian rules for repair) these quotes from the Washington State hearing today:

Senator Hasegawa
"I’m here to advocate for small businesses. We need to create opportunities for digital entrepreneurs. This bill opens up opportunities."

Senator Rolfes
"My grandfather was an immigrant and a cobbler. Back then, shoes were expensive and built to last. Those who repair technology are the cobblers of the 21st century." The Senator, who is chair of the Ways and Means committee, goes on: “Big tech needs to give us products that are possible to repair.”

Senator Stanford
Asking why he didn’t have the option to keep the data on his Xbox when the fan failed. “I only had one repair option—mailing it in to Microsoft. This is about competition.”

Senator Liias
“Do I own this phone? I thought I bought it from you. You’re acting like you have some lasting connection to this phone. How is this relationship different than when I buy a pencil?”

Senator Ericksen
“With my car, I have three options—dealer, local shop, or my neighbor Eddie. Unless you guys can show a real risk to copyright infringement, I don’t see why we wouldn’t give everyone a crack at fixing their phone. Everyone has a horror story on this.”

Powerful Big Industry Lobbyists

Our coalition is traveling the country to fight for you and your right to repair. We've made tremendous progress over the years, but we need you to fight alongside us if we ever hope to win this battle. OEM's want to limit repair or shut it down. And they will if you don't do something. We believe that repair should be available to anyone and everyone. When that happens, it creates business opportunities and lots of local jobs. It saves time, money and, yes, the planet too!

The right to repair fight will continue until, "We the (Repair) People" stand together in a united front to do battle for what we believe in!

  2. Nice Post!
The top-selling mobile phones these days are quite expensive, which are likely to be used daily. The frequency of its usage makes a mobile phone prone to different types of damage or wear and tear. It is because of the time spent on the phone the owner is unlikely to buy a new mobile phone every time their current unit faces any problem. A better option is to search for a phone repair near me to get your mobile phone repaired and to make it work correctly.
